Group Puppy Pre-School
Suitable for dogs 8-14 weeks old
The aim of Puppy Preschool is to provide a safe and controlled environment for you and your pup to learn and have fun together, using modern, science based, positive reinforcement methods. In classes of no more than 6 puppy-pupils, you will learn to understand your puppy’s unique personality and breed-related needs, as well as their way of communicating.
We cover topics including:

how to build a strong foundation for the puppy to grow within the family;

addressing the key problems with puppy raising – e.g. toilet training, nipping & biting, food guarding and chasing;
-
basic obedience - e.g. sit, drop, come, stay, leave it;
-
the importance of enrichment;
-
cooperative care;
-
canine nutrition; and
-
avoiding separation anxiety.

Following each session, I will provide detailed notes and training exercises via email as well as phone support between classes.

Thursday evenings (7.30pm) @ The Wild Vet, Glebe

Group Adolescent Classes
Suitable for dogs 6-18 months old
Finished Puppy Pre-School and looking for the next challenge? Group Adolescent Classes are the perfect way to extend your knowledge and your dog’s skills in the critical adolescence phase of your dog's development.
We cover topics including:

building strong engagement between you and your dog;
-
perfecting and proofing basic cues e.g. sit, drop, come, stay, leave it;
-
working on developing a reliable recall;
-
focus in distracting conditions;
-
loose-lead walking;
-
greeting visitors politely;
-
learning some fun tricks; and
-
an introduction to scent work.

Following each session, I will provide detailed notes and training exercises via email as well as phone support between classes.
​

Winter: Saturday afternoons @ Galston Veterinary Clinic
Summer: Thursday 7pm - 8pm @ Galston Veterinary Clinic
Six sessions = $250 in total (1- 1.5 hours per session) ​
Home Consultations
My in-home visits involve tailored training sessions to tackle specific concerns in the safe, distraction-free environment of your home. This allows me to give you and your dog individual attention to understand the root of any behavioural issues or concerns, and involve the whole family in developing pratical solutions.
Each home consult includes a pre-visit assessment questionnaire enabling me to better target my services, as well as follow-up communications with detailed training notes and ongoing support.

Duration and Cost:

Single consultation = $270 (2 hours)
​
Package deal = $425 (1.5 hour initial consult + 2 x 1 hour follow-up consults - 3.5 hours total)

Private Puppy Classes
Suitable for dogs 8-16 weeks old
Here at r+ Dog Training, I highly recommend puppy training for everyone, even those who have previously owned dogs. However, I understand that not everyone is able to come to group classes, for a variety of different reasons.
Through individualised, in-home puppy training sessions, I am able to develop the skills and behavioural basics for a happy puppy-owner relationship in the comfort of your own home. My goal is for you to understand your puppy’s unique personality and breed-related needs, as well as learn their way of communicating.
I will take you, your puppy and your family through various engaging training topics and exercises including socialisation, toilet-training, foundational skills and cues (sit, come, drop, stay), loose lead walking, independence-development, and even some fun tricks, helping you to raise a happy, confident and well-behaved pup.

Steps to Skills Program
We all have the best intentions when adding a canine companion to the family, but sometimes life gets in the way of investing the time and energy necessary for a well-trained pup. My 'Steps to Skills' program is designed for the busy dog owner. Using walk-based training methods, I take your dog out for sessions in your local neighbourhood and work with them one-on-one to address issues such as on-leash behaviours (including lunging, pulling or chasing other dogs) stemming from fearfulness or over-excitement, and responsiveness to commands. To ensure that you are able to implement these changes yourself, I record key segments of the training walks in video and photo form for you to review in your own time. At the conclusion of the 6 Steps to Skills sessions, I will conduct a 1 hour in-home consult with you and your dog, to develop a personalised training plan for you to implement going forward allowing you to build on the training foundations I have developed and make walks more enjoyable.
